The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program (BIS) is designed to give students the opportunity to intertwine two
fields of applied studies and integrate them into their education as well as a future career. BIS allows students the ability
to expand on two concentration areas that will prepare them for real life interdisciplinary experience. BIS is very beneficial
to students who do not want a limited degree, BIS caters to many applied studies and gives you the proper education and experience,
and is much more appealing when deciding a future career.
Why I choose BIS?
I initially choose to do BIS because I was really torn between a degree in business or obtaining a degree in communication.
When I heard that BIS allowed you the opportunity to combine the two, it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. It was the best
decision I could have made! I feel confident that I am skilled equally in both areas, and have learned the importance of integrating
the two. I am confident my decision will hagive me a better chance of getting my job of choice after graduation because
I my education has not been limited.

BIS COURSES:
BIS 301- This class was
initially my first introduction to becoming an Interdisciplinary student. The main focus of this class was not to identify
our concentration areas, but rather identify the interdisciplinary in myself, and how to think outside of the box and integrate
new ideas and experiences into our lives.
BIS 302- Here I learned to focus on my two concentration
areas and distinguish their differences as well as their similarities. You never realize how two completely different subject
areas can be so similar and intertwined. This class taught me the importance of my two concentration areas and how one is
essentially not complete without the other. It made me see outside the black and white areas of my studies and see where they
come together in the gray.
BIS 401-This class allowed me to get real life experience through an internship in a potential
career field I am interested in. I have gained hands on experience from my internship that cannot be taught from a book.
BIS 402- I feel mentally prepared for the real world because of this class. It has allowed me to
analysis various aspects within my inner self and evaluate my strengths and weaknesses that will influence my future. I feel
confident in my journey ahead, the last segment in the BIS curriculim to send me out into the real world.
